In Brandywine, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Maryland, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

Brandywine is in Maryland, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Brandywine is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Maryland's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I cannot say enough about Tim and the crew at Ed's Plant World. From the very first walkthrough, Tim came with real knowledge, genuine enthusiasm for plants, and a clear vision for what our yard could become. He didn't just tell us what to remove. He told us what we had worth saving, identified an insect problem in our boxwoods we didn't even know about, and spent time talking through plants he thought would thrive in our specific conditions. The job itself was a full backyard overhaul including demolishing and removing an old rotted deck, clearing out years of overgrowth, and installing a completely new bed with fresh plants, mulch, and seeded grass where the deck used to be. The front yard got a full cleanup, edging, trimming, and new mulch throughout. Tim's crew completed everything in a single day and the work was thorough and professional start to finish. Two plants on the estimate were unavailable, and Tim didn't just leave blank spots. He sourced a Limelight Hydrangea tree in full bloom and a variegated dogwood as substitutes, both of which ended up being showstoppers. Ed's Plant World is less than ten miles from us and it shows. Tim knows what grows here, what survives M

I got a bunch of plants last year from here. I needed a plant and came by to see if they had it. I asked a young man if they had it and he told me they didn't have it. I replied "oh dang, you don't have it." & an old lady with blonde hair, snapped at me. "No, we don't have it!" & stared at me like I offended her. Hard to believe an employee would speak to a customer that way, especially when I wasn't even talking to her. I also believe she was the same lady who checked us out last year and she had a crappie attitude then as well. If you do go there try to avoid the old, blonde, cranky, female employee. Just keeping it real. I will not be going back there, you couldn't pay me. JMβ‘

Iβve been shopping here for over 10 years and was very disappointed by my experience. Last month, I received a $10-off-$50 coupon from the store, but unfortunately I misplaced it. When I came in to shop, I explained the situation and even showed proof of my previous purchases and transactions from my phone. I simply asked if they could honor the coupon since it had been issued by their store. I was told they could not because they needed the physical coupon. While I understand stores have policies, what made the experience frustrating was that I had recently witnessed another customer receive an exception without presenting a coupon. The inconsistency in how the policy was applied left me feeling singled out and undervalued as a longtime customer. After supporting this business for more than a decade, I expected better customer service and a greater effort to accommodate a loyal customer. Unfortunately, this experience has left a negative impression, and I will be taking my business elsewhere. I hope management takes customer concerns seriously and applies policies consistently to everyone.

Gorgeous, large greenhouse and outdoor shrub selection! The staff was helpful in bringing my lilac to the car, and gave me a nice discount on the pot that came with it. I got a brochure of repotting/gardening information. Including the photo of the one-year warranty information.
